There are various types of refrigerated vehicles for transportation and delivery. The chiller conversion unit combines insulated qualities with a refrigeration component. This allows the transportation of perishable items over a relatively short distance, not requiring below-zero storage.
Capable of longer duration below-freezing transport, the semi-freezer truck typically offers 75-millimeter insulation and has more advanced refrigeration qualities. With quick-defrost capacities, it does not require a defrost heater. Full-freezer trucks add to this with doors and sidewalls that are thicker and more heat resistant.
The two basic refrigeration systems in use are roof- and nose-mounted. The latter is mounted on the chassis’ front end. The nose-mounted unit is typically used for van fleets and has a location that is easy to access and maintain. Roof-mounted refrigeration units are typically required for larger trucks and vans, such as those used to transport produce and meat.
